August 2nd Meeting

Our August 2nd meeting will be held at:

War Memorial Building in Balboa Park, 3325 Zoo Drive.

Free parking in the north part of the Zoo parking lot. Or take the trolley to City College Trolley Station (C Street and Broadway then the 7 bus north on Park Avenue (or walk 1.9 miles).
This meeting will be held from 11:00am to 1:30pm

This meeting will have 1 CEU’s for Arborist / Tree Worker Certification.

Climate Change mitigation through the CA Climate Investments

How the CALFIRE Urban Forestry program’s past, present and future funding is contributing to a more sustainable society.

Lynnette Short

Lynnette Short serves as the State’s Regional Urban Forester for San Diego, Imperial and Orange counties. She holds a Bachelors degree in Forestry & Natural Resource Management with a concentration in Fire & Fuels Management from Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo. She started her career with CAL FIRE in 2003 as a seasonal wildland firefighter, and then migrated to Resource Management working in the Vegetation Management and Fuels reduction program. In 2006 she took a position in the Urban Forestry program, where she manages local Urban Forestry grants through the State’s Climate Investment’s programs. She also works with local municipalities and non-profit organizations to improve Urban Forests in the southern region.

Life Among the Leaves is our parent organization’s (California Urban Forests Council) annual conference.  Register today!  We would love to have representatives from San Diego there.
